Daigo Umehara Immortalized In New 'Street Fighter' Manga

Daigo Umehara isn't just one of the most popular Street Fighter pro-players in Japan, he's one of the best and most successful players on the planet right now. The man holds several championships, a Guinness World Record, and is basically a celebrity in Japan. So much so, that he is getting his own manga!

You know you're hot shit in Japan when someone decides they want to make an illustrated bio about your life. UDON Entertainment is the company that will be producing and releasing the book in the west called Daigo The Beast, featuring several chapters about Umehara's rise through the ranks and his love for Street Fighter. The artwork inside is pretty spectacular and detailed, to the point of near jealousy over their dedication to the craft, it looks that good.

There are some liberties taken with it as it says he has a near-psychic ability to see know his opponent and what they'll do before they do it. But who cares? We all know Daigo Umehara can't read minds or else he'd be undefeated. So why not ham it up a little bit since it is a manga. The book will be available in December to purchase online for $20, but if you happen to be at EVO between July 14-16, you can snag a copy of Volume One immediately!
