How War For The Planet Of The Apes' "Bad Ape" Could Set Up Future Movies

Director Matt Reeves has been doing a lot of press for the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes. While this trilogy is getting ready to end that doesn't mean that this is the end of the series. These have been a series of prequels to the original Planet of the Apes and there is a character in War for the Planet of the Apes that Reeves believes can lead into a whole new set of movies. He talked to Yahoo Movies about it:

"Bad Ape is actually a seed that is a forest. In this story we see that the idea is that the world is revealed to be much larger than the apes ever imagined. There are apes who grew up without the benefit of Caesar's leadership and they might not just be pockets of one or two, there might be actually colonies, and might that be where future conflicts come for Caesar's apes? They have the benefit of the integrity that he's instilled in them, so what's going to happen when they encounter others who didn't have that?"

Bad Ape and Nova are both fascinating aspects of the universe as we watch this world continue to evolve. These last movies have been Caesar's journey, but now that his journey is coming to a close, its time for the world to continue to evolve.

20th Century Fox also released a new featurette detailing the history of Caesar and how this world came to be.

There is still a lot of time they could cover in future movies. This one ends with some very interesting implications that another filmmaker, with a unique vision of their own, could explore.

Summary: After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind.

War for the Planet of the Apes is directed by Matt Reeves and stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, Karin Konoval, Judy Greer, and Terry Notary. It will be released on July 14th.
