'FLCL' Seasons 2 & 3 Trailer Released At Anime Expo 2017

FLCL fans have been cautiously optimistic since Adult Swim announced in March 2016 that it was partnering with Production I.G. to revive the anime classic for an additional two seasons. At this year's Anime Expo 2017, fans were treated to a small taste of what to expect as the first teaser trailer for the show's second and third seasons was released:

During it's initial six-episode season, FLCL followed 12-year-old boy Naota, who meets a strange woman riding a Vespa and brandishing a big guitar. As soon as she enters his life, strange and bizarre things begin to happen that turns Naota's world upside down. Adult Swim confirmed that seasons two and three would also run six episodes each, with an expected late 2017/early 2018 premiere.

FLCL creator Kazuya Tsurumaki will serve as supervisor for both season, joining director Katsuyuki Motohiro (Psycho-Pass), character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion) and writer Hideto Iwai (Last Dinner).

'FLCL' Seasons 2 & 3 Trailer Released At Anime Expo 2017

Here is the official synopsis for FLCL Season 2:

"In the new season of FLCL, many years have passed since Naota and Haruhara Haruko shared their adventure together. Meanwhile, the war between the two entities known as Medical Mechanica and Fraternity rages across the galaxy. Enter Hidomi, a young teenaged girl who believes there is nothing amazing to expect from her average life, until one day when a new teacher named Haruko arrives at her school. Soon enough, Medical Mechanica is attacking her town and Hidomi discovers a secret within her that could save everyone, a secret that only Haruko can unlock.

But why did Haruko return to Earth? What happened to her Rickenbacker 4001 she left with Naota? And where did the human-type robot 'Canti' go?

All of these questions and more will be answered in the new season of the series, which is set to premiere in late 2017/early 2018 on Adult Swim."
