New Nintendo Switch Info Leaked About Save Transfers & Guest Profiles

Eurogamer is reporting this morning leaked documents have been posted online about the Nintendo Switch plans for a few key areas that fans might be interested in. The documents date back to late 2016 with promotional materials (like the one you see below) referring to the system as the "NX".

Originally, one of the plans was to make it so save file data could be transferred between consoles, which the current version does not. That's not going to sit well with fans who lose their games entirely if a Nintendo Switch should break or suffer memory damage, or those who have to physically send their Switch in for repairs and can't just purchase a new system to transfer data to.

Another missing element, which we've taken a quote from below, is the option for guests to play on your system and not lose any of your save files. Which would have been a huge benefit seeing how if I want a friend to play Zelda on my Switch, I have to set up an entirely new profile for them. Whether or not we'll see either of these features in the future is unclear, but I can say for personal certainty, I'd love to have the save file transfer system in place if the day ever comes that my Switch burns out or breaks.

We are considering a feature in the future (tentative name: Guest Login) to access existing network service account information without linking to a user account. This feature would allow temporary access to the network service account linked to the Nintendo Account by logging in to the Nintendo Account within the application. This feature would, for example, make it possible to upload a character you have raised as online data and then use that data on a friend's NX (without creating a user account). We do not plan to provide this feature for the NX launch.
