Netflix's 'Death Note' Movie Gets A New Poster Featuring Ryuk

There has been come controversy when it comes to the Death Note movie that Netflix is producing. The movie doesn't come out until August so over the next several weeks we should expect to see more from the production. One of the things we haven't had a chance to really see is Willem DeFoe as Ryuk. Ryuk is one the coolest character designs ever as he walks this line of being terrifying and fascinating to look at. DeFoe knows how to play a character like that and director Adam Wingard shared a new poster on twitter of DeFoe as Ryuk. It's only in black and white and very abstract so we can't get all of the details but it's the best look we've had of the character so far.

For all the criticism I personally have about this movie, and I have quite a few, that is an awesome looking poster. If they manage to nail Ryuk, not only the look but the personality and movements of the character, it's going to help legitimize this production in the eyes of fans irritated by the casting choices. Summary: Light Turner, a bright student who stumbles across a mystical notebook that has the power to kill any person whose name he writes in it. Light decides to launch a secret crusade to rid the streets of criminals. Soon, the student-turned-vigilante finds himself pursued by a famous detective known only by the alias L.

Death Note, directed by Adam Wingard, stars Nat Wolff, Lakeith Stanfield, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, and Shea Whigham. It will stream to Netflix on August 25, 2017.
