Deadpool 2: T.J. Miller Teases Possible Weasel And Dopinder Storyline

Deadpool 2: T.J. Miller Teases Possible Weasel And Dopinder StorylineWe're a little under a year away from a Deadpool sequel, and that means it's time to start talking plot. We know that we're getting Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz) but we're also getting some of the human characters returning as well.

T.J. Miller recently sat down with Screen Rant to talk about The Emoji Movie, and was asked what his story is going to be in Deadpool 2. Miller said he'd seen an idea, but he wasn't sure if it was going to make it into the final product:

"We're shooting in August and September and it's going to be even more Weaselicious. … The cab driver, Karan Soni, and Weasel have a pretty funny storyline, which I'm not positive is going to be in [the movie], but they were talking about it and it was really making me laugh. And I like him, I did Office Christmas Party with him, and he's very funny, very quick and so — because we didn't cross paths in the original film. … So y'know [fans can expect] stuff like that. I think they're really building out the world and deciding kind of what's next."

Dopinder was a great little character, but we never got to see him interact with Weasel. Deadpool is a franchise that is getting a lot more superhuman characters, but there is a level of humanity that will help keep the sequel from going completely off the rails. Characters like Weasel, Dopinder, Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), and Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) all help ground movies like these.

Deadpool is doing a high-wire act as it walks the line between anarchic comic book movie and action movie, where we're supposed to care about the fates of the characters. The character of Deadpool can focus on the former while the human characters help with the latter.

Deadpool 2, directed by David Leitch, stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Josh Brolin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Zazie Beetz. It will be released on June 1st, 2018.
