Only Spider-Man Is Confirmed For The MCU According To Kevin Feige

Only Spider-Man Is Confirmed For The MCU According To Kevin FeigeSomeone might want to put Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal in a room with a few contract lawyers because it's quite clear that they are talking passed each other instead of at each other. A few days ago Amy Pascal said that all the Spider-Man movies are in the MCU but judging by the way Feige reacted he wasn't aware of that. JoBlo was at the Spider-Man: Homecoming junket and asked Feige about it.

No active discussions, no plans at all for that. The only reason I don't say "no, never" is because of the amazing things that have happened over the 17 years here. But I don't see that happening anytime soon.

This is a pretty standard response from Feige but it does confirm that Venom and Silver and Black are doing their own things so far. Feige went on to say that they are focusing on the Spider-Man movies for now.

Right now, Spidey is in the MCU and it's just Spidey. Civil War, Homecoming, we've already shot a lot of Tom Holland's scenes in the upcoming Avengers films, and we're just starting to solidify our plans for Homecoming 2 – we won't call it that, whatever it is – which is exciting because it'll be the first MCU movie after untitled Avengers in 2019. It'll be the way Civil War informed everything in Homecoming, those movies will launch him off into a very new cinematic universe at that point. Those five movies are we're focusing on.

So that's something we didn't know before now; the second Spider-Man movie is going to be the first movie we see post Avengers 4. That means we currently have two confirmed phase 4 movies; a second Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. JoBlo also asked Feige about rights and how he felt about the Venom movie.

They have rights to other characters, and I think they're being very smart in saying 'We have to make a great Venom movie.' They're off to a good start hiring Tom Hardy.

We've heard a "yes" and "no" as far as whether or not these movies are going to be connected. Venom is rumored to start filming this year so we'll likely get to an answer sometime soon. It could be the sort of thing that gets announced at Hall H next month.

Summary: Following the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016), Peter Parker attempts to balance his life in high school with his career as the web-slinging superhero Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: Homecoming, directed by Jon Watts, stars Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Donald Glover, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, and Michael Keaton. Swing on down to your local theater and check it out on July 7th.
