Phil Lord and Chris Miller might have more free time on their hands after they parted ways with the Untitled Han Solo movie but that’s doesn’t mean they are without work. There are rumors they have been talking with DC about jumping over to The Flash but they also have another movie on the way that no one is really talking about just yet. Sony has an animated Spider-Man movie in the works which will star Miles Morales that Lord wrote and that they will both produce. We got some new casting information about who will be lending their voices to characters.
According to The Tracking Board has revealed that Oscar winner Mahershala Ali and Atlanta star Brian Tyree Henry have joined the cast of the animated movie.
Shameik Moore of The Get Down will be voicing Miles and Liev Schreiber will be the villain though who specifically he is playing is being kept under wraps. Insiders are saying that Henry will play Miles’ father Jefferson Davis while Ali will voice the role of Miles’ uncle, Aaron Davis, who is on the wrong side of the law.
We don’t know that much about the plot of the movie yet or even if they will follow the comic version of the origin story. Miles Morales took up the mantle of Spider-Man when the original Peter Parker died in the Ultimates universe. He’s a popular character that has been waiting for his moment to shine on the big screen for years now.
Ali is coming off a great 2016 where he took the world by storm in Moonlight, terrified us in Luke Cage, and played the perfect supporting man of a brilliant woman in Hidden Figures. He just wrapped up Robert Rodriguez’s Alita: Battle Angel and will be in the Sundance movie Roxanne Roxanne. Henry TV credits include Atlanta, Vice Principals, Boardwalk Empire, and This Is Us. His feature movie riles include Crown Heights and White Boy Rick.
The Untitlerd Animated Spider-Man movie will be released on December 14, 2018.
