Capcom & Bandai Namco Tag Team To Improve Matchmaking

It seems like a partnership that probably should have happened years ago, but Capcom and Bandai Namco have decided to join forces to help improve their combined online matchmaking systems. That may not sound as sexy as a sequel to Street Fighter X Tekken, but it's just as important to the gaming communities of both titles. Over the years, both companies have developed their own online systems that have worked out, for better and worse. This new partnership is essentially going to take the best of both worlds and help intergrade them into each other's systems.

In a statement by Capcom yesterday, the company entered into the agreement with the purpose of improving the user experience while "accelerating the production of titles and reducing development costs for both parties." They also state that they will continue to look into cross-licensing opportunities, which means there's a lot of opportunities for the two companies to mix and match their various titles down the line.

It would be pretty cool to see Dragon Ball get into the mix or perhaps a Mega Man/Pac-Man crossover. At least in the short term, we'll be seeing some improvement in both Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V's systems, but those changes probably won't come for several months, maybe in 2018.
