One of the characters that moved to the forefront in season 7 of The Walking Dead was Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos). The character was mourning the death of Abraham, but stayed strong through the group being split up and all the things that happened during the season. According to Serratos’ Instagram account, the actress just gave birth to a baby girl. This means the actress was pregnant through a lot of the filming last year. And Cinemablend is figuring that she may not be available for part of season 8 as she spends time with her newborn. A similar thing happened with actress Alanna Masterson whose character of Tara went on a supply run as Masterson gave birth during season 6 / 7.
Observant fans may have noticed that the character went from wearing tight clothes and a bare-midriff to more baggy outfits during last season. While other characters stayed low through most of the season, Rosita was ready to kill Negan for what he did to Abraham. She became the fans outlet for their anger at Negan. Her character was shot at the end of season 7 and could have an absence explained away by time to recover from the wound. Or they could need more supplies.
Serratos started off on series like 7th Heaven and Hannah Montana before signing on to the Twilight franchise as Angela and appearing in four of the five films. She joined the cast of The Walking Dead in season four with the tenth episode, Inmates.
The Walking Dead season 8 will premiere this October on AMC.
