UPDATE: 'Bachelor In Paradise" Jackson Demands Video Release, Olympios Demands Answers

If Disney/ABC and Warner Bros. were hoping that the Bachelor in Paradise controversy was going to quietly fade away, then they might want to skip this next post and maybe check-out that DuckTales post from earlier…

In what could probably best be described as a perfect example of skipping the frying pan and diving deep into the fire, TMZ reports that Bachelor in Paradise castmate DeMario Jackson is demanding that Warner Bros. release the tape of his sexual encounter with Corinne Olympios as he feels it will show that Olympios was aware of what was taking place and that any sexual contact between them was consensual. Jackson is also looking for a public statement from Warner Bros. clarifying that he is not under investigation.

In response, Variety reports that Olympios has retained top Hollywood lawyer, Marty Singer, to represent her as legal council as the investigation continues. In a statement released to Variety, Olympios says:

"I am a victim and have spent the last week trying to make sense of what happened the night of June 4. Although I have little memory of that night, something bad obviously took place, which I understand is why production on the show has now been suspended and a producer on the show has filed a complaint against the production. As a woman, this is my worst nightmare and it has now become my reality. As I pursue the details and facts surrounding that night and the immediate days after, I have retained a group of professionals to ensure that what happened on June 4 comes to light and I can continue my life, including hiring an attorney to obtain justice and seeking therapy to begin dealing with the physical and emotional trauma stemming from that evening."

Just a quick thought…we need to move beyond this righteously dangerous idea that we can somehow tell if a person's drunk just by the way they act.  I have friends who can get drunk and then spend an hour coherently debating the U.S.'s role in The Middle East until they convince you they're right. But then you turn away for a second and the next thing you know, they're slouched in the corner with their eyes rolled-up into their heads, drooling on themselves like it's their job and they're working overtime. Were they drunk before they passed-out? Absolutely. Just because you can pull your shit together enough to basically function doesn't mean you're in a position to be making decisions on or consenting to anything. Releasing the footage may be a smart move on Jackson's lawyers' part, but it does nothing to get to the actual truth.
