Fox Is Already Promoting Lucifer's Time Change And Pairing With The Gifted

It's never too early to start promoting TV shows. Fox has already released an video for Lucifer's return this fall and it's time slot change. Gotham is being moved to Thursdays and Lucifer is moving up an hour to 8 PM and will be followed by The Gifted. There is a lot to unpack there. First is the idea that Lucifer is moving up an hour. Television has, traditionally, kept the 8 PM timeslot as family friendly as possible with 9 PM allowed to get a bit racier and 10 PM pushed even further. Lucifer, the story of the fallen angel, doesn't strike me as an 8 PM series. Not with some of the antics he got up to in the first two seasons. How much will it be watered down for season three?

Secondly, Fox believes that Lucifer is a better lead-in for their new X-Men based television series than Gotham or anything else on the network. And they think that Lucifer is a better match-up against Supergirl than Gotham. That strikes me as odd. Yes, both Gotham and Lucifer are based on comics, but I would think that Batman fans are a closer connect to X-Men fans than the fans of a former Vertigo comic series would be.

The big questions going into the fall for Lucifer: How will the timeslot change effect the series and will pairing it with The Gifted be a smart move?
