Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Delayed Until Spring 2018

It's a pretty familiar move for most of us, a game ends up needing some more time in development, so the publisher kicks it back to the end of the fiscal year. Rockstar Games today announced that their awaited sequel to Red Dead Redemption is being delayed to Spring of 2018 on all platforms. This is the very reason why March has become such a major month for game releases, since anything that doesn't make it for the Fall/Winter crush gets shunted off for time in a manner that allows the publisher to still quote those pre-order sales in their End of Year investor reports.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the first Fall 2017 game to be pushed back to the end of fiscal year 2017, but I'm sure it won't be the last. This news is dissappointing, but I think we'll all be happier with a more finished product a few months later.

Rockstar's full announcement reads:

Red Dead Redemption 2 is now set to launch Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.

We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer. In the meantime, please enjoy this selection of new screenshots from the world of Red Dead Redemption 2.

The group of screenshots are below. And damn, are they one hell of a tease.
