Hollywood might not have completely original ideas but they are looking at things from a new direction. Ophelia is the latest movie to come along that takes a classic story that we all know, in this case William Shakespeare's play Hamlet, and looks at it from a different angle. We have our first look at the movie from Entertainment Weekly which stars Daisy Ridley as Ophelia.
The upcoming film will be a reimagining of Shakespeare's Hamlet and sees Ridley's Ophelia become the central character. Her trusted lady-in-waiting to the Queen (played by Naomi Watts) captures the attention of young Prince Hamlet (George MacKay), sparking a forbidden romance between the two. However, with a war on the horizon, and betrayal coursing through Elsinore Castle, Ophelia will be forced to choose between the man she loves and her own life when she's asked to protect a dangerous secret.
Ophelia is being directed by Claire McCarthy with Semi Chellas adapting the screenplay from a book of the same name by Lisa Klein. Opehlia is one of the titles for sale at the Cannes Film Festival.
