'Ace Combat 7' Director Pushes The Game Back Until 2018

Franchise director Kazutoki Kono sent out a personal letter addressed to fans of the Ace Combat series to let them know that the next fighting sim, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, would be delayed until 2018. The reasoning behind the push was that his team, Project ACES, require more time to realize their vision. We're still going to get a preview of the game at this year's E3, but it will be one of the non-VR missions that have already been completed. Here's a quick quote from the letter, as we patiently await the Bandai Namco release for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

"We would have loved to launch Ace Combat 7 at the end of 2017 as we originally intended, but doing so would compromise our goal for the game," Kono explained. "We take our art very seriously and that means we have instead chosen to devote additional time and effort to perfect and optimize this newest chapter of the Ace Combat saga."
