Milestone S.r.l. Shows Off MXGP3's Customization Tools In The Latest Trailer And We're A Bit Disappointed

mxgp3-logoMilestone s.r.l. put out a new trailer today showing "even more extreme rider and bike customization modes and many incredible technical improvements for the new MXGP3." Which, uh, yeah sounds great. Sadly the trailer doesn't quite live up to that. But it's got a nice soundtrack and shows off a whole bunch of custom bikes. So it could be worse?

In MXGP3 players can choose from 300 official components, 40% more customizable parts than were available in the past edition, and over 75 brands that will let you customize riders and create unique setups for your bike and custom team. Which is pretty cool if you really want a custom built virtual bike.

Naturally, once you've created your custom rider and bike which has been personalized to your hearts content, you can go ahead and take them both out on the track and do your best to climb the rankings, increase your reputation and be invited to join the team of 12 Official Motocross Championship partners available in the game. You can choose to continue racing with your own custom team, or with one of the official race liveries designed by Milestone's artists.

The newest edition of MXGP includes graphic and gameplay improvements in an attempt to ensure a decent amount of texture quality, particle effects, and improved lighting that will affect the rider's visibility and change according to weather and ground conditions. They've also enhanced the game's physics engine and added a new sound recording and reproduction system (REV) which will allow players to experience the closest simulacrum to the sound of a real motor cycle engine that the Unreal 4 Engine can get.

With all that hype though, you do have to wonder why this was the trailer they put out today. Sure, looking at all those custom options is great, and we get a tiny glimpse of some track time, but it doesn't show me anything that really seems new.

MXGP3 will be available on May 30th PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam for PC. The custom trailer is below.
