In Memorium: Mary Levin, Of 1First Comics, Dies At 64

Mary Levin, a regular face at 1First Comics convention booths, has died of complications from early-onset Alzheimer's disease, aged 64. She was married to Ken F. Levin, publisher of 1First Comics.

Steve Stern, co-creator of Zen the Intergalactic Ninja, offered some kind words.

"Mary was a huge favorite of comics fans and was loved by our 1First Comics' talent family. She was so inherently sweet and instinctively helpful she made everyone's day better."

Levin was diagnosed at Mayo's Clinic in Rochester in December 2011.  From that point forward, she overcame her dislike of flying and she and her husband Ken spent every day together until 2016, when she was no longer able to travel.

"It's the nastiest of illnesses," said her daughter, Dr. Stephanne Levin. "She was able to turn it into the most fun years of our parents' marriage until travel became impossible."

In addition to her husband and daughter, Mrs. Levin is survived by two other children, Dr. Josh Levin and Jon Levin, and two grandchildren, Hallie Sophia and Lucy Maxx Levin.

The family has requested that any donations be made to HilarityForCharity.org, benefiting the Alzheimer's Association.
