Create A New Comic Character For Phoenix Weekly's 300th Issue #phoenixcomicsuperstar

unnamed-27

My nine-year-old daughter is a keen weekly subscriber to a weekly anthology comic, Phoenix Weekly, which yet again fails to get an Eisner Awards nomination despite being one of the best comic book anthologies in the world.

But they're not in it for the fame and the fortune. But maybe you know a kid who is.

They recently launched a special competition for children across the country, inviting them to create their very own comic hero or heroine for the comics' 300th issue drawn by an old friend, Neill Cameron. The deadline is the 31st of May and entrants can go here.

They need to

1) Get drawing and create a new comic character! This could be an alter ego, an awesome new hero/heroine or anything else, including them!

2) Show us what makes that character awesome – like a secret power or ability.

3) All great comic characters have an arch-enemy. Draw them too.

Entries can be drawings, a written story or comic, or even a video. The winner will see their character star in a special 16-page comic illustrated by Neill Cameron, of Mega Robo Bros and How to Make Awesome Comics.  The new comic will start in Issue 300 and run for 4 weeks.

You can follow the competition at @phoenixcomicuk #phoenixcomicsuperstar.

Alice? Time to get drawing.
