46 Sketches And Commissions Bought At C2E2, From Sharp To Stelfreeze, From Roux To Rossmo
Jeff Herron attended C2E2 for Bleeding Cool.
Once upon a time, comic conventions were relatively small affairs—held in modest venues with a handful of industry guests. Today, thousands flock to comic conventions across the globe and throughout the calendar year. With the rise of the comic con, the collection of convention sketches and art commissions has become a new frontier of comic fandom. Legions of fans seek to snag a sketch from their favorite artist or to curate their own collection of original art. And C2E2, one of the largest U.S. conventions boasting a respectable guest list, is an excellent place for such fans.
As an art collector myself, I knew one of the things I wanted to highlight during my time covering the show for Bleeding Cool would be the sketches and commissions coming out of the show. Some of the best art comics creators are putting out today doesn't even appear on the shelves of your local comic shop—it's right here at shows like C2E2. I called upon a host of fans and collectors to give you a glimpse of some of the amazing artwork C2E2 2017 had to offer. Featured artwork represents both pre-show commissions and con sketches. Special thanks to the members of SketchPrices.Net for their contributions.
