The Diamond Summit 2017 is underway in Chicago ahead of C2E2. And Bleeding Cool has eyes and ears on the floor.


Penguin Random House / Quirk / DK stepped up for a combined presentation, bulletpointed for ease of read.

  • As Chip Kidd creates a variant cover for the last issue of DK3, expect a Chip Kidd Book 2 release later this year, a collection of all his art and covers, with notes by Chip Kidd
  • They publish books from the top properties, Star Wars, Lego, Game of Thrones, Marvel, DC, etc, “Geek” centric books, DK Ultimate Guides covering the top comic properties Batman, Wonder Woman, etc Minecraft books from Quirk. Strategy guides, for exploration, creativity, etc, DK Readers Sticker books based on their properties and creating what they call a “One Stop Pop Culture Shop!”
  • New 3D wall mask mount books based on Game of Thrones. Punch out peices from the pages of the books and fold into masks you can wear or mount.
  • Monograph by Chris Ware takes a look at his best known works


  • Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: 1 Glory of the Losers, releases July 2017, in colour with 6 planned volumes. DC Super Hero Girls series a best seller.  Star Wars Little Golden Books, great sellers, two new volumes. Big Golden Book of Jedi and SIth (2018), and The Big Golden Book of Aliens Creatures and Beast, Heroes and Villains Little Golden Book Collection (July 2017).

  • And their Star Wars Shakespeare series continues with The Force Doth Awaken – which got a good audience laugh.
  • The Comic History Saga – The Legend of Regrettable Supervillains just released. It will be followed by The Spectacular Sisterhood of Superwomen catalogues women in comics history, coming soon.
  • Their X-Files picture books feature Mulder and Scully as children, with all new stories. They have already had to go back to press 5 months before release to meet demand.
  • Star Wars Made Easy – explains star wars concepts, characters, etc in easy to understand pictograms.
  • Ultimate Marvel – HC covering character profiles and history of characters, technology, and stories.
  • Justice League: The Ultimate Guide, coming before the JL movie, covering character and story profiles.
  • Ultimate Lego Star Wars – Character, Vehicle, etc profiles featuring lego versions of the Star Wars properties.
