Microsoft Starting Up A Refund System For Xbox One And Windows 10

Though it was quietly revealed on Xbox Insider Program, a subreddit made the news much more public yesterday that Microsoft will be offering Xbox One and Windows 10 users a refund system for digital products. This self-service system will cover games and apps that have been used for either less than two hours upon download, or have been owned for less than two weeks from purchase. The system isn't active yet, but in order to request a refund, you have to sign into your account and go to Payment & Billing. You then head to your order history and choose the option that says "Request A Refund."

Not everything you purchase through Microsoft is available for refund, though. Season passes, DLC and in-game add-ons are not eligible. Plus, all games must be downloaded and launched prior to requesting the refund, and you must wait at least a day after the game's release before requesting one. Additionally, some Windows 10 apps may not have a refund option. The final cap on all this to make sure no one is abusing the system: Microsoft has the right to block users who use the refund system too often, which means you can't speedrun all your games and get your money back without facing consequences. Only time will tell to see if the system actually works or gets significantly abused.
