Injustice 2 Will Have A Gear System To Let You Customize Your Battles

Today's trailer for Nether Realm and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's Injustice 2 takes you inside the game's gear system and gives you an idea of what to expect when trying to customize your playstyle. The trailer is named "Your Battles Your Way" which should tell you exactly what they expect you to do with the gear system.

The problem is, we all know how gear systems work. There's always one or two pieces that end up being make or break for each character, and if you don't have them, you're SOL. Not that the press release will tell you any of that. The statement put out with today's trailer was as follows:

"With every clash comes change and the opportunity for evolution. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today released a new Injustice 2 trailer outlining the Gear System that brings a new level of depth to the game, allowing players to evolve their play style and achieve their goals. Gear will open up vast possibilities for personalisation by enabling combatants of all levels to build and power up the ultimate version of their favourite DC characters to fit their fighting style."

So get ready to grind away for that gear, or spend money to buy it. That you can customize your character's looks with gear and not skins is actually pretty awesome, and would make sense with an RPG. But that's not what we're playing. Multiplayer is going to make this gear system an utter mess. That's what we wanted with a fighting game, right?

The game will be available for PS4 and Xbox One in North America on May 16th, and worldwide on the 19th. The "Your Battles Your Way" trailer is below.
