The Rock And The Jungle Cruise, A Match Made In Heaven
The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Disney is moving forward with a movie based off of one of their most iconic park rides, The Jungle Cruise.
America's sweetheart Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has secured a deal to produce and star in the movie. Dany Garcia, who also works with Johnson on their Seven Bucks Entertainment banner, is also slated to co-produce the film. Currently Garcia has this years Baywatch and Jumanji under her belt, so The Jungle Cruise isn't much of a stretch for her.
If you've never been on the ride, let me break it down for you. You board a boat and set sail on a journey through the jungle. Guiding you is a sarcastic, punny, skipper who will slay you with the worst jokes you can imagine. But it's charming, and it's what brings me back to the ride over and over again. I've enjoyed Disney's cinematic take on their rides (yes, even that damnable Haunted Mansion movie) so I have high hopes for this. If anyone from Disney is reading this, please consider a Space Mountain movie.
