Bilzzard Wins $8.5 Million Against Big Time Cheat Maker

Don't think for an instant that not replying to a court order won't lead to a decision against you. Ever! Blizzard has been going after Bossland for years after they made dozens of hacks for World Of Warcraft, but the tipping point that pissed them off was seeing a special hack deal for Overwatch. Now programs like Honor Buddy and the defunct Watchover Tyrant have put the cheater group in major trouble with the court system.

After failing to appear or offer any kind of defense in court, a judge awarded Blizzard the entire amount they were asking for in a recent damages lawsuit, which comes to a grand total of $8,563,600. A total that, according to Kotaku, they came to by "calculated by taking Bossland's testimony that they've sold 118,939 products to users in the United States since July of 2013 and approximating that 36 percent of them were cheats for Blizzard games. Blizzard claims that adds up to 42,818 infringements, for a total just north of $8.5 million." The judge also awarded them the attorney fees, which came to $174,872, so technically just shy of $8.7 million total.

Before the judgment was handed down, Bossland CEO Zwetan Letschew told TorrentFreak that they'd continue operating no matter what the judgment was. So either the company is making major bank and doesn't care, or they're planning to appeal the judgment down the road and weren't interested in wasting money the first time around on what was a solid case against them. Or hell, they may just end up refusing to pay, leading to more court cases down the road. Plus, the decision only applies to the U.S., so the company has other avenues to continue handing out cheats and staying in business.
