Atlus Warns Streamers Not To Give Away The Plot Of 'Persona 5'

Were you hoping to see a stream or a series on Persona 5? Chances are you might be seeing many of those videos come down or not even happen as Atlus issued a warning today to all YouTube and Twitch streamers who may potentially play the game. If your content gives away any of the plot that's vital to the primary storyline and could be considered a spoiler, the company may hit you with a Content ID warning, or ask that your channel be suspended. The move feels very much like Nintendo's moves on YouTube, but the company isn't demanding any money in return. Here's a quote from the warning:

persona-5

Ok, now let's talk Persona 5 streaming and videos. Simply put, we don't want the experience to be spoiled for people who haven't played the game. Our fans have waited years for the game to come out and we really want to make sure they can experience it fully as a totally new adventure. …  If you decide to stream past 7/7 (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT DOING THIS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED), you do so at the risk of being issued a content ID claim or worse, a channel strike/account suspension.

It will be interesting to see how players will handle the videos from now on, seeing how 50% of the game is story-driven and there's very little to go off what the company would consider a spoiler outside of the pivotal plot points.
