The Time Comic-Con HQ Treated Me Like A VIP

Can you imagine me, a regular guy, definitely nothing to write home about, getting special treatment at Wonder Con?

Well, thanks to Rich Johnston being across the Atlantic that's exactly what happened. When he told the Bleeding Cool team he wasn't gonna make the show, I jumped on the opportunity to take his VIP spot at the Comic Con HQ booth.

The booth gives fans the opportunity to let their inner heroes out. Con goers are placed in front of a green screen and given green panels to hold and move around. Throughout a five to six-second video process, fans move the panels across their body to reveal their inner self. (Never underestimate the power of the color green.)

Not only did I get to cut the long line (which made me feel slightly uncomfortable to be honest) but I even walked away with a free bluetooth speaker and 90 day trial to the Comic Con HQ streaming service.

I can't pretend everything went smoothly though. When standing at the booth talking with Comic Con HQ officials about everything from reddit to their upcoming TV shows, I mixed up Lionsgate (who is the official partner of the Comic Con HQ team) and Legendary Entertainment. They both start with the letter "L" and make pretty much the same movies (I'll pay you if you can tell me which company produced Power Rangers and which one produced Warcraft without looking it up).

But hey, that's a con lesson right there. Just maintain a positive attitude and the embarrassment of misspeaking will quickly disappear After making the mistake, I was able to turn the conversation around and keep things flowing smoothly, almost tricking Comic Con's finest into thinking I knew what I was talking about.

It was in that moment that I became a true VIP. I don't need Rich to be thousands of miles away to receive special treatment, I just have to prove myself in front of the cool kids.

Stay tuned for more because Bleeding Cool will soon have a 30 day trial code to preview Comic Con's shows for all you who couldn't make it to Anaheim this weekend.
