Meta Athena Out At APEX, Finals Now Not As Exciting

Posted by March 29, 2017 Comment

As we talked about before, Meta Athena has been the darling of the Overwatch APEX Tournament happening this month, using their own unorthodox styles to become the dark horse underdogs of the tournament. It was looking like they might make their way to the finals, but sadly, they were defeated yesterday at the hands of Lunatic-Hai. Even by pulling off creative moves like this.

MA only managed to score one round point in the best of five matches. Now they go to the lower bracket to play LW Blue for third place, while the championship will be decided between LH and the other underdog team we’ve been watching, RunAway. It’s kinda disappointing as the championship round had such potential to be a battle of the unknown. Now we’re watching the #1 ranked team in LH go up against the #11 ranked team in RA. This tournament could have been so awesome from a fan perspective. The final round takes place on Tuesday, April 4.
