Marvel Promises Fewer Tie-Ins For Secret Empire, But Will Take Over The Comics Industry With Hydra Nation

In an interview with Diamond Daily, the comic store retailer digital magazine, Marvel SVP Sales and Marketing, David Gabriel has told them that "we took some learnings from last year and cut down the number of tie-ins to this event. We get that some fans or stores may have event fatigue, while others continue to demand more and more. So we think we've found the happy medium for Secret Empire."

He also talked about his marketing plans, that include "talk shows appearances, TV ads and some other things we can't talk about."

But as for those TV ads, "we're working with Bow & Arrow Studios (the company that produced last year's Black Panther recap videos) to create high-quality Secret Empire video content. Specifically, content that will be repurposed as broadcast television advertising."

arvel will be branding June's Secret Empire tie-ins as Hydra Nation  and in the first week of June, they are planning a "Hydra Takeover" of comics – "any popular websites, some Marvel apps & sites, and even brick and mortar retail locations, as well as online retailers and sales outlets."

I'm guessing not Bleeding Cool though. Boo hiss.

But we are to expect big announcements next week.

We also got a look at how the Secret Empire branding will change from issue to issue, with the logo, symbol and colours changing (obviously the art will change too, but this is to highlight the livery.

He also wants to ensure people know the series is on time, and that pages from issue 4 are already being delivered to Marvel.

And in one message which seems slightly aimed at us at Bleeding Cool, "Lastly, I think I'd want to say that this story is not what you think it is. Lots of people out there have lots of guesses. But no one has figured out what's going on, even after reading the 0 issue."

Fair enough! Here are some more Secret Empire covers to come… with the changing logos…
