Matt Hardy Officially DELETES TNA As Hardys WWE Return Seems Likely

Confirming yesterday's reports that negotiations between Matt and Jeff Hardy and TNA Wrestling had broken down, Matt Hardy confirmed his departure from the company on Twitter last night:

Matt Hardy's creative vision was a huge part of TNA in 2016, but the company was recently taken over by country music singer Jeff Jarrett after a failed attempt at a takeover from Smashing Pumpkins vocalist Billy Corgan, and reports have suggested that Hardy might not have the same creative freedom as he did under TNA's more desperate old management. That creative freedom, along with a lighter schedule, is likely what made TNA more attractive than the huge piles of money a WWE contract would offer the returning stars. Though Jeff Hardy hasn't confirmed that he too will leave the organization after his contract reportedly expires next week, Matt's departure adds a lot of credence to rumors that both Hardys plan to return to WWE.

If a WWE return is in the works, it likely won't occur until after Wrestlemania. Dave Meltzer said on his Wrestling Observer Radio yesterday that The Hardys aren't taking any bookings for May or June at this time, though they will fulfill existing ones, such as their match against the Young Bucks at Ring of Honor Supercard on April 1:

Matt and Jeff Hardy are the current TNA Tag Team Champions, so presumably they will appear at this Thursday's Impact Wrestling tapings to drop the belts, unless Vince Meekmahan plans on having them throw them in the trash live on Smackdown.
