Can't Wait To Play Classic Games On The Switch? You're Gonna Be Waiting A While.

As part of a press release today about the eShop, Nintendo announced that the virtual console would not be ready for launch on March 3. This really isn't much of a shock seeing how the company never really promoted playing older games during their videos and press conferences, it was more discussed and talked about which made it feel like a distant reality. There was some news on Shovel Knight's upcoming DLC being exclusive to the Switch for a limited time, as well as the anti-grav racer FAST RMX, but this one-liner in the release is what caught everyone's eye today.

Below are the finer details about what to expect from the eShop next Friday.

People who already have funds in their accounts on other Nintendo devices can access them using a shared wallet that works on Nintendo Switch as well. Once they link their Nintendo Network ID and Nintendo Account and then their Nintendo Account to their Nintendo Switch system, this functionality becomes possible.
Virtual Console games will not be available on Nintendo Switch at launch. We will share more information in the future.
A news feature will offer updates about the latest additions to Nintendo eShop, as well as providing information about upcoming games and other updates from Nintendo.
