Poochy And Yoshi's Woolly World Is Cute But Nothing Special

Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World is a 3Ds Yoshi game, and pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a Nintendo platformer in the Mario world. It looks adorable and the textures are fantastic, the mechanics are a known quantity and the controls are relatively intuitive. This is much like exactly what you'd expect that there isn't even a tutorial.

Your Yoshi is working with the Poochy pus to try and rescue other Yoshi's from being used as scrap wool. Yes, everything you encounter including the primary antagonist Kamek is made out of wool. Which is super cute and very well designed. This game looks awesome.

And you progress through game stages in order to rescue abandoned wool and piece your friends together. You can play in either Classic Mode or Mellow Mode. In Mellow Mode, the Poochy pups follow your Yoshi around and provide helpful hints. They can also act as your yarn, making it easier to progress through levels. Having them follow you is decently worth it for gameplay that's "a little breezier and relaxed."

Throughout each level you're working to collect balls of yarn and sunflowers, as well as coins and gems. There's a "power badge" that you can earn which allows you to skip one course of the stage, which is kind of nice though I'm not certain why you'd want to use it. Unless there was one stage you couldn't get past, but, I find that difficult to believe. Poochy and Yoshi isn't exactly the kind of ruthless game where you'd want such a "get out of jail free" card. Maybe I'm just biased though.

While Poochy and Yoshi is a port of the Wii U game Yoshi's Woolly Wolrd and not much changed, its a lot like the gameboy games of the past and fits rather well in the handheld world.
