Sci-Fi MMO Skyforge On PS4

Developer Allods Team has announced that their Sci-Fi MMO Skyforge will release on the PS4 sometime this year. The announcement trailer contains several sections of the game in a case for console players to make the jump to MMOs. Skyforge is a free-to-play MMORPG which combines some more typically fantasy elements into its sci-fi setting. Watching mages and Paladins run around in a world filled with space ships is absolutely entertaining and the sort of thing I'm shocked we haven't seen before. Players choose from one of fourteen different classes and can take advantage of several game modes including a campaign, PvP, and multi-player raids. Skyforge also has a very unique social networking aspect that allows players to remain connected even when not online without requiring the use of third-party forums or chat networks.

PS4 players can register early to get a variety of free rewards when the game launches. All the perks of a pre-order with no initial buy in. Which is a pretty sweet deal if you don't mind the tendency for free-to-play MMOs becoming an obnoxious pay-to-win game. That said, there are many F2P games that are not endless cash grabs. Skyforge doesn't strike me as the type, given its success on PC, as there is a progress cap on how much you can play to balance out the sheer amount of upgrades you can purchase.

That said, most of the female character's class armor is incredibly highly sexualized, which is the sort of thing that I'm too fatigued by to be annoyed at. It's almost lazy. The later classes feature it much less, and it also depends on your individual armor choices. So. It could be worse. It could also be better.

You can get a closer look at Skyforge here.
