LEGO Movie 2 Aims To Stay Awesome With Director Change

The LEGO Movie was a huge success when it came out a couple years ago. A sequel was quickly announced and scheduled for May 2018, and that was followed by a LEGO Batman Movie as well (check out Rich's review here!). Since then, the project has been in a bit of trouble, with the original directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord a little busy to direct, and writing the film and staying on as producers. After turning in a first draft, it was re-written by Raphael Bob-Waksberg of BoJack Horseman fame. The film was then pushed further back to February 2019, five years after the original. Originally hired director Rob Schrab (Community, The Mindy Project) has now left the project due to the old "creative differences", and they have brought on Mike Mitchell (Trolls, Shrek Forever After, SpongeBob Squarepants: Sponge Out Of Water). Hopefully he can capture the same frantic pace and humorous tones from the first film, get it on track, and we can avoid any further delays.
