OurMine Security Hacked WWE Last Night, Revealed WWE Control Of All Superstar Social Media Accounts

Hacker group OurMine Security, who you may remember from the time they hacked Marvel's twitter accounts in December, is back on the job, this time targeting pro wrestling organization WWE. Like previous hacks, the group simply took control of the company Twitter accounts and posted a message saying that they did:

According to Mashable, the compromised accounts, which included WWE Universe, WWE NXT, WrestleMania, WWE Network,  Summer Slam, and John Cena, were all linked to the profile of WWE's head of social media, which is what allowed OurMine to break into all of them at once. Perhaps the most notable revelation from this is the fact that John Cena's personal social media accounts are apparently controlled in some fashion by WWE, possibly as a safeguard against rogue tweeting or, ironically, hacking, as are all of the accounts of WWE superstars, according to a statement from the group:

We just hacked it using the head of WWE social media account. It is linked to all of WWE Superstars accounts — Twitter and Facebook.

Of course, that relies on the fact that OurMine is telling the truth. But why shouldn't we trust them? Since OurMine security hacked the accounts just to show that they could, and to point out potential security flaws, they fall into the category of white hat, or babyface, hackers. Black hat, or heel, hackers would have stolen WWE's data, taken down their websites, or used a foreign object to attack their opponent while the referree was distracted.

The behavior is consistent with the Marvel hack, which, in addition to helpfully exposing security flaws, also put enough of a scare into Marvel writers and editors that they went for several hours with being complete tools on social media. Will OurMine continue to use their power for good, perhaps by altering the files containing WWE's booking plans so that the universally reviled Roman Reigns does not defeat Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble today and go on to main event Wrestlemania?

We can only hope so. And, following the example of our President, Donald Trump, encourage the hackers to attack our enemies: rival comic book and entertainment news sites.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
