Is 'Logan' Oscar Worthy? Ryan Reynolds Thinks So

The superhero genre, much like science fiction and fantasy, doesn't tend to get a lot of love during the awards season. However, ever since The Dark Knight and the academy bringing in new and younger faces, perhaps the genre is about to get a little more love. This is why 20th Century Fox have been doing an Oscar run for Deadpool despite it not being the normal thing that Academy goes for. The star Ryan Reynolds clearly finds that incredibly entertaining and in a new interview with Variety Reyolds has a prediction for the movie that will finally give the superhero genre the respect it deserves.

"Logan looks like a movie that might break that glass ceiling," Reynolds tells Variety. "I know first-hand that it's amazing. I've seen some of it. It's mind-blowing. It relies a lot on character."

Logan being the one to 'break the glass ceiling' would make sense actually. The Academy loves movies that are slow moving and character focused. That is how Logan is being marketed so perhaps next year will be the year.

DeadpoolShocked

Unless Hollywood decides to give Deadpool a 'best picture' nomination which would make several people in the industry lose their minds. The fact that Deadpool is up for anything is hilarious, something Wade Wilson himself would love, but it isn't just Ryan Reynolds that thinks Deadpool has a shot at winning big. It appears that Wolverine himself Hugh Jackman is supporting this unexpected run at Oscar gold.

"When I hosted the Oscars, 'Batman' didn't get nominated, and everyone was talking about it. It's a stretch to say these are injustices in life — we are happy and making movies. But I love it when someone like Ryan gets recognized." He adds, "These big-budget or comic book movies are not easy to pull off."
