Kevin Smith TV Show Directing Tour Comes To "The Goldbergs" For Burton Batman Episode

Following successful stops on his comic book related TV show episode direction tour at both The Flash and Supergirl, Clerks director Kevin Smith will be bringing his talents to ABC sitcom The Goldbergs. Smith's stop at the 80s nostalgia-based TV show has been known since November, but what we didn't know was what the episode would be about. True to form, it will be comics related in some way, as the episode will be about Tim Burton's Batman movie.

"I grew up watching the Adam West Batman and I was in a sold out movie theater for Tim Burton's Batman on opening day, June 23rd, 1989, so I can't wait to recreate those early eras of Bat-amania in the Goldbergs Universe," Smith told IGN in an EXXXCLUSIVE interview. "Luckily, the funny folks in front of and behind the cameras who make this hysterical show every week will be doing all the heavy lifting in our time travel experiment."

Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg, upon whose childhood the show is based, also kissed Smith's butt in return for the compliments, saying he's a "weirdo geek super fan" of Smith's work. The episode will air sometime this Spring.
