The Doctor Who Christmas Special Features The Work Of John Byrne (UPDATE)

From the Doctor Who Christmas Special, airing on BBC1 right now.

The trailers will have told you that it's a superhero story. With elements very similar to Superman.

And indeed references to the actual Superman. The comic book. By John Byrne.

Byrne reinvented Superman in the eighties, writing and drawing the series, and remains a very strong influence on the current incarnations.

Well, everyone needs an origin…

It's very strange to find myself part of a fictional universe. Like when Joey was reading GENERATIONS on FRIENDS, or NEXT MEN showed up on BIG BANG THEORY.
