Update as of 2:50pm PST: Sources tell TMZ that when the plane landed paramedics worked on Carrie for 15 minutes with CPR before they were able to get a pulse. She’s currently at UCLA Medical Center on a ventilator.

It would seem that 2016 is hell-bent on not giving us a break. Carrie Fisher, best known in her role as Princess Leia from the Star Wars saga, TMZ is reporting that the 60 year old actress has suffered a “massive heart attack”. She was on board a plane at the time, returning home for the holidays in Los Angeles. She had been in London as part of her ongoing publicity tour promoting her eighth book, Princess Diarist.

The LA Times received word from the LAX Police Department, that officers had responded to Terminal 7 around 12:15 p.m., for a call of a female passenger in cardiac arrest. On arrival, they found paramedics performing CPR on the victim.

One of the passengers tweeted about the incident on board the plane:

The Anna referenced in that tweet responded with regards to how she seemed, and the response was not promising:

She was rushed to a nearby hospital by paramedics as the plane landed just after noon PST.

Well wishes and support has begun to come in via Twitter with Star Trek’s William Shatner and Rogue One writer Gary Whitta posting.

We will update this story as information becomes available

[Update 2: The current word on Fisher’s condition is intially encouraging. According to AP, who got in contact with her brother, the actress and writer is “out of emergency and stabilized” in a LA hospital. There is no other news at the moment though and that information is a little vague. Hopefully though, each bit of news from here on out is as encouraging.]
