Pokemon Go Is The Top Trending Search Term This Year On Google
This year, across the world, has been tough for many. It's been a divided time, and also sometimes, a scary one. You'd think people would be searching for a lot of serious and important stuff in the wake of all that's happened.
Instead, Google have revealed that in 2016, Pokemon Go was the top trending search term in 2016. That essentially means, the search term was the most searched over a period of time. It beat out Donald Trump, iPhone 7 and US Election. The Nintendo Switch was ranked 9th.
I actually kind of like this. In a torrent of just the worst news, there is something encouraging about a game being the most actively searched for. Of course, most of that was probably about figuring out how to hatch eggs, but it's great that people are still taking solace in entertainment.
