Frightened Retailers Had Little Effect On The Success of Motor Crush As First Issue Goes To Second Print

Last month, Bleeding Cool told you about retailers who were afraid of ordering Motor Crush #1, the new series from the Batgirl of Burnside creative team of Cameron Stewart, Babs Tarr, and Brenden Fletcher, because it has a black, female lead, and their customers are racist. However, that hasn't stoped the comic from selling out and going for a second print, according to a press release from Image Comics.

MOTOR CRUSH #1, 2nd printing (Diamond Code NOV168052) and MOTOR CRUSH #2 Cover A by Tarr (NOV160629) and Cover B by Stewart (Diamond Code NOV160630) will be available on Wednesday, January 11th. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, December 19th.

Alongside critical acclaim, will this encourage retailers to be less afraid of ordering comics with black female leads? More importantly, how sad is it that we even have to ask that question?!

Pick up Motor Crush #1 (second printing) and Motor Crush #2 on January 11.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
