Big Changes To Thought Bubble For September 2017 As Gerard Way Arrives

unnamed-3

Thought Bubble, Britain's finest comic convention, is all change for 2017. New month! New location! New… everything!

Bleeding Cool once told you that Thought Bubble 2016 was moving to September. We were wrong – by one year. The new date for the Thought Bubble Festival 2017 will be 18th – 24th September, with the  convention falling on the weekend of 23rd and 24th September.

And rather than the Leeds Dock and the Royal Armorines, the expanded festival village will return to the centre of Leeds in a new multi-venue approach that will see a series of huge marquees take over Millennium Square and Victoria Gardens in front of the art galleries, while events from the show will be held in Leeds Town Hall, Carriageworks Theatre and Leeds City Museum.

The move to the city centre, is being supported by Leeds City Council and a range of sponsors and partners, will provide  larger spaces and enable greater public access.

The new multi-venue site in central Leeds will include a series of huge marquees that will take over popular outdoor spaces in the city including Millennium Square and Victoria Gardens. In addition, some of the city's favourite venues will play host to the festival programme with Leeds Town Hall, Carriageworks Theatre and Leeds City Museum all involved.

In fact, it's pretty much exactly where I found my very first comic shop as a young lad, Odyssey 7, now a hairdresser…

The show will also celebrate the first anniversary of DC's Young Animal comics imprint, by having Gerard Way, the imprint's curator, writer of Doom Patrol, Spider-Man,  Umbrella Academy and The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, as well as being frontman of My Chemical Romance as a guest of honour.

Bleeding Cool looks forward to being a part of Thought Bubble as ever! I'm off to book my AirBNB. No, I have not been daunted…
