Rare Disney Auction Offers Chance To Unlock Secret Mysteries, Shop For Holidays

Inferno may have sort-of flopped at the box office in October, but aspiring Robert Langdons have something to look forward to this December 9th. Profiles in History, an auctioneer of Hollywood memorabilia, is holding an "Animation And Disneyana Auction" that day, featuring dozens of highly sought-after Disney artifacts that almost certainly contain hidden symbology that will reveal a mind-blowing conspiracy in the highest reaches of government operated by an ancient secret society, and only you can solve it. Probably. Well, it's not completely outside the realm of possibility.

Items up for auction include a signed and cancelled 9-page will from Walt Disney himself. What secret messages from beyond the grave has Disney hidden in this document? With just $40,000-$60,000 and a little bit of luck, you could find out for yourself! For just $20,000 more than that, depending on how the bidding goes, you might obtain the original legal license for the Walt Disney Corporation to use Disney's name, which is as likely as not to be a treasure trove of clues that will help you decipher centuries-old mysteries which may, or, as Bleeding Cool is legally obligated to point out, may not, exist. In an original animation cell from Pinocchio featuring Jiminy Cricket and bidding at just $20,000-$25,000, there could plausibly be a secret code that will help unravel a plot that threatens the the world itself, or, on the other hand, it could make for a lovely display piece for your library. The possibilities are limitless if you really think about it.

Other highlights including an "Atom Mobile" prop from the defunct Disneyland Adventures Thru Inner Space attraction ($5000-$7000) which, for all we know, could plausibly, under the right circmustances, be an actual working Atom Mobile which would allow the buyer to shrink to a size smaller than an atom, a prop pistol from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction ($1000-$2000) that may well turn out to be an actual pirate gun charged with a dangerous supernatural curse, and Peter Pan Christmas art commissioned by Disney himself ($800-$12,000) which could – we're not promising anything here – contain the secret to eternal life. No, there's no limit to the exciting things you might uncover at the Disneyana Auction. While there's no actual evidence, or, for that matter, promises of any kind from Profiles in History that this is the case, there's nothing explicitly saying it isn't either. Frankly, it would be really surprising to us if none of these artifacts ended up leading the buyer on a globe-trotting adventure that changes the course of human history. But that's just us.

In a worst case scenario, you could always just end up buying a loved one a gift for the holidays. But in a best case, a series of increasingly more challenging mysteries will ultimately lead you to discover that Walt Disney himself has been alive all this time, hiding out in a secret bunker underneath his theme park, colluding with aliens probably and secretly pulling the strings of world governments, having replaced their leaders with animatronic versions from the Hall of Presidents. How will you know how to find him, and more importantly, stop him, without the map that could be hidden inside miniature scale model of Cinderella's Castle available for auction as part of a rare collectible set with bidding expected around $1500-$2500. Can you afford to miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for adventure and bargains?

Check out some of the highlights of the auction at the Profiles In History website. There's non-Disney stuff too, including some Grinch production cells signed by Chuck Jones ($8000-$12,000), Bewitched memorabilia, and more. The auction can be attended live or on the internet for "qualified bidders" on December 9th.
