The Future Of The Marvel Universe In 2017 (SPOILERS)

Everyone seems to be looking at the future today. Chew #60 gives us an epilogue set in the far future, as the aliens who have caused the whole damn problems the world has had to deal with over the five years, finally land. And a world where vegetation has been weaponised. Whether for transportation…

…or television and telecommunication.

Or in Action Comics, where what you would expect to happen if you gave Lex Luthor a Mother Box… happens.

But, as Batgirl reminds us today…

But what of the Marvel universe's future? Well, Civil War II #8 sees Ulysses seemingly physically travel to the future – the future of Old Man Logan. With the art team of that book guest-starring to show that this alternate future may actually be the actual future of the Marvel Universe after all.

Now Black Bolt was in the original Millar/McNiven Old Man Logan story. So either this is a new Old Man Logan future, or Bendis forgot that bit. But The Inhumans did all leave years ago in that future as well.

We discovered this week that the Inhumans were going off-planet to track down the source of Terregenesis as part of ResurrXion. What we didn't know was that this was to do with possibly what happens to Tony Stark in Civil War II – and what this does to Captain Marvel.

Talking of which, The Ultimates 2 #1 also has a glimpse of the future, courtesy of multiverse-rewriter Al Ewing.

But there is also another vision of the future in this week's comics, in Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur where, attempting to control her mind-shifting powers with the large red Tyrannosaurus, she seems to shift her perception into another time. When she is all grown up…

Could the future be about to go back to the past? ResurrXion!
