Dynamite Entertainment is fast forwarding life on Mars to a new place… the end. They’ve brought in the writing team of Brian Wood (Northlanders) and Alex Cox (Adventure Time) and paired them with artist Hayden Sherman (Civil War II: Kingpin) for a new take on the Edgar Rice Burroughs creation John Carter: Warlord of Mars.
The new series takes place centuries later as a war for supremacy and genocide scours across Barsoom. A brutal despot has brought the world on the brink of collapse and a search party has been sent out to find John Carter and Dejah Thoris. The two have retired to a life of seclusion on a desert moon where they mourn the loss of their son.
The series was loosely announced back in October as a project for Wood and Cox but no other details had been given. Now we know the basic plot, that Sherman is doing art, the covers for the first issue and that it will ship on February 8th… which puts it in the December Previews.
