A Street Level Hero – What Makes Luke Cage Tick

Netflix has a new video looking at Luke Cage as a street level hero and just what that means. The video includes commentary from Mahershala Ali, Brian Michael Bendis, Method Man, Mike Colter, Cheo Hodari Coker, and Dapper Dan talking about what makes Luke Cage a hero. Coker points out that this series has elements of both a Blaxplotation film and a western, comparing Cage to the characters played by John Wayne and others. And I can see that. Cage is someone coming to this town for a new start, trying to forget his past but he’s not able to ignore the bad things that are going on around him, even if it will cost him that fresh start.

The full 13-episode season of Marvel’s Luke Cage is available now on Netflix.
