G-Fuel Kept Us Alive At NYCC

slide-01Adam Wolfe wrote from New York Comic Con

I am not a huge fan of energy drinks. I am not a huge fan of coffee either. I am a huge fan of being able to walk around a convention and not pass out from exhaustion on day two. So, to achieve that end, I will take just about any means.

This year, NYCC did away with their "empire stage", and used that space as an extension to the show floor, providing more room for exhibitors.  After wearily walking down there to check it out, my eyes were drawn to these tubs of liquid that seemed to almost be glowing. As I got closer I to the EDM blasting booth, I realized they were giving out free samples of whatever this eye catching drink was. As most of you would probably agree, when you are offered something for free at a con, you usually take it. This probability is increased when its food or drink, given the alternative (buying them at the con) can quickly bankrupt you.

I went down the entire buffet line of free samples. G-Fuel had on display 10 of their 16 featured flavors. Each sample was served in a small plastic cup. I have absolutely no shame in telling you all that I marched down that line, and took a full glass of every single one. Though I could still taste the powder used to make the drinks in just about every sip, the flavors were good enough that I was not deterred from trying the next one.

I can honestly say that after these samples, which equaled about two regular sized cups in total, I was completely wired. I found myself zipping through the con like it was 10 AM on Thursday. So, even if the flavors didn't tickle all of my fancies, the results were impossible to argue with. Since a certain press lounge at a certain convention didn't have COFFEE for us this year (cough cough) G-Fuel did a perfectly fine job in filling in the caffeine crave.

It is marked as "healthy energy" for gamers. The company was founded by a pro gamer, who wanted an energy supplement that would keep him alert and focused. Essentially, G- Fuel is modified version of a pre-workout supplement. However, rather than focusing on muscle building, the ingredients in G-fuel are catered to helping the mind. They claim that G-Fuel will "enhance your focus, boost your energy, sharpen your reactions and upgrade your endurance." I can attest that it definitely made me feel awake and alert. I can't really comment on my reaction time or endurance being amplified though, then again I wasn't gaming either.

Best part is, G-Fuel is sugar free and only 25 calories. So you can drink a whole lot of it and still squeeze into your cosplay!
