Today's Titans #3 Brings Watchmen To DC Rebirth Again (SPOILERS)

The smiley face image in Watchmen means many things. One of which is the similarity in placement to the doomsday clock, getting closer to midnight. That then ties in with the images of watches, both reflecting the name of the comic Watchmen, but also the intricate nature of reality as explored by Dr Manhattan, as a man who can take apart time.

It's rather clever.

So trust writer Dan Abnett to be a cheeky bugger, when it comes to recent moves to integrate Watchmen with the DC Universe in DC Rebirth, and Dr Manhattan stealing ten years of continuity away…

640-4 Today's Titans #3 features Kadabra, the character who it seems stole the Titans's past rather than, as previously assumed, Dr Manhattan…

…although it appears there may be another figure at play. Is that Manhattan?

Is this just mean teasing? Or does it indicate something else?

image-22Hellblazer #3 is also getting down with it, though this is less about DC Rebirth and more about quoting William Blake. Which Moore was, originally, with the title of the comic.

The morning comes, the night decays, the watchmen leave their stations;
The grave is burst, the spices shed, the linen wrapped up;
The bones of death, the cov'ring clay, the sinews shrunk & dry'd,
Reviving shake, inspiring move, breathing! awakening! – William Blake, America – A Prophecy.

Actually, maybe it is about DC Rebirth after all.
