While the initial plans for a Man of Steel sequel molted into Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a true sequel to the film has always been a possibility and one person has gone on record saying it’s definite: star Henry Cavill‘s agent.
“Henry has a big appetite,” Dany Garcia, whose Garcia Companies represents Cavill, told Newsweek. While looking at properties for his Promethean production company and shooting Justice League, Garcia mentioned he is also “in development for the Superman standalone… he’s beginning to expand that world.”
Last month, word broke that the standalone Superman sequel was a “top priority” for Warner Bros. as its plans for the DC Films universe solidifies. To an extent, it seems inevitable that Superman would take center stage again, but it also seemed in doubt when the studio first announced its superhero film calendar — with Man of Steel 2 conspicuously absent — a few years back. With a second Justice League, Aquaman, The Flash, Ben Affleck‘s solo Batman film and Cyborg set for release in the next few years, it’s hard to say if that Superman sequel will bump one of the other projects out of the way or find itself scheduled after 2020.
And, as always, it makes you wonder how secure Cyborg and Green Lantern Corps. are as a projects.
