Champions Take Top Spot In Advance Reorders, As They Top 400,000 Orders
Greetings from the coal face of the direct comics market. Where retailers try to increase their orders of certain comics ahead of sale. Where supply and demand and most accurately reflected, where you can see which books are hot, where new orders are coming in and how retailers are reacting to new, unanticipated desire! And it is Marvel's new Champions series which gets the most reorders. We stated that Marvel were trying to get 300,000 advance orders for this comic, well with their new 1:1000 variant cover, the party promotions, the endless varaint covers and the enviable creative team of Mark Waid and Humberto Ramos, they have pushed well past that, over the 400,000 mark.
But there are other string performances from the Doctor Strange Annual, as it will launch the new series Doctor Strange And The Sorcerors Supreme. Star Wars and Saga still see retailers play catch up. And there is increasing heat regarding the launches of Vertigo's Frostbite and Vertigo ex-EIC editing Surgeon X from Image.
While over in the already-published charts, the release of a new collection in softcover of Johnny The Homicidal Maniac has seen every store sell out and rush to order more…
