Mindless Speculation: Kieron Gillen And A Death's Head Ongoing?

In 2015, Marvel Comics put out this teaser element to retailers at San Diego Comic-Con.

To date, every one of those images resulted in a series, a number of which have now been cancelled. But one, Death's Head, didn't even make it that far.

The giant robot assassin created by Simon Furman and Geoff Senior for the Transformers UK comic book, has become a firm fan favourite, guest starring in She Hulk, the Fantastic Four, Doctor Who, getting his own series and, more recently, appearing in both SWORD…

dhsword…and in Iron Man, both written by Kieron Gillen.

IM2

Gillen is a member of a group of comic folk who go down the pub together in London once a month, as is Simon Furman. As, for that matter, am I.

He recently stated that he has another unnamed Marvel job on the go. Gillen is working mostly in creator-owned comics now, so it would have to be something special and personal to bring him back.

UNANNOUNCED MARVEL THING – Two issues written. Inks arriving for the first issue, which are an utter delight. I think people will love it. It's an ongoing.

Without actually asking him (because that would take the fun out of it – though I did give him a (death's) heads up) it has been suggested that this would be a welcome opportunity to write a Death's Head book.

He has had a lot of experience writing the "bad guys" at Marvel, with both Loki and Darth Vader. Could this be the chance to make the rule of three.

But this is nothing more than mindless speculation.

Of course in an ideal world, considering Death's Head has been in the Marvel, Transformers and Doctor Who universes, Gillen would be ideally placed to write him into the Star Wars universe as well…

Marvel also recently registered a trademark for Death's Head. So they do have plans…
